Despite his poor performance, Germany’s under-fire coach Hansi Flick finds support

Despite the team’s current losing streak, dismissing Germany coach Hansi Flick is not an option, according to Rudi Völler, the sports director of the German soccer organisation.

With a year left before Germany hosts the European Championship, Flick is experimenting with his team, as seen by Germany’s 1-0 defeat to Poland on Friday.

In advance of the last of three June friendly on Tuesday against Colombia, Völler said that Hansi Flick “will obviously remain the coach.” We all agree that Hansi is the ideal coach for a successful European Championship.

Völler acknowledged that more needed to be done by Germany to regain the support of its supporters.

“Of course we want to win, we want to experiment, but we also want to motivate others. We want to demonstrate to the supporters that they can depend on us in this game, not as a friendly or a qualification contest, he stated. We’ve had a long season; we’re exhausted, and the legs are heavy. We now need to supply the few percentage points that were absent in Poland under various circumstances.

Before taking over as Germany’s manager in 2021 to replace Joachim Löw after a dismal European Championship campaign, Flick won the Champions League with Bayern Munich. Flick began with an eight-game winning streak as Germany breezed through World Cup qualification. However, since then, his squad has only won four of 15 games against Italy, Oman, Costa Rica, and Peru.
