“Players haven’t received salaries, and the PCB chairman isn’t responding to Babar,” Latif said in reference to Pakistan’s disastrous World Cup

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif claims that Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has stopped communicating with Babar Azam, which might put his leadership in peril. This announcement follows Pakistan’s almost certain elimination from the 2023 World Cup after their fourth straight loss to South Africa, a close one-wicket setback on Friday. Strong condemnation of the captain has been expressed by past players, indicating that emotions are running hot in the nation.

In the last overs of the game, the contest took a dramatic turn from what had earlier seemed to be a fairly simple chase for 271 for South Africa. At 260/9, the Proteas, who had been sitting well at 235/5, were suddenly in a difficult place. The main cause of this turn in the game was an outstanding exhibition of fast bowling by Haris Rauf (2/62) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (3/45).

But Keshav Maharaj (7 not out) and Tabraiz Shamsi (4 not out) contributed vital runs for the last wicket, making a tremendous triumph possible in 47.2 overs. With 10 points from their win, their squad soared to the top of the standings.

Throughout the competition, Babar has come under fire for being a very defensive and uninspired captain. Latif said that the PCB chairman has ceased replying to Babar as the team faced its fourth straight defeat.

On the state-run PTV sports station, Latif said, “I know for a fact that Babar has got no response from the Chairman (Zaka Ashraf) when he called and messaged from India.”

“The players do not get pay… What can we expect from the squad in these circumstances given that the Chairman is not answering the captain?

Latif also said that a few high-ranking board members had informed the players that their main contracts, which they had signed before to departing for the World Cup, were now being reviewed. Despite without providing any evidence to support his assertions, Latif, one of the first whistleblowers in the historic match-fixing scandal, said that a lobby seeking for Babar to support surrogate betting ads is pushing for his removal.

You must ascertain who has been impacted by the prohibition on surrogate advertising. Latif said, “Babar is being penalized for taking a courageous and moral stance against surrogate advertising before to the World Cup.
