Bars in Ghaziabad & Noida to Stay Open Until 4 A.M.? Report Indicates UP Government Plans to Increase Excise Tax Income

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to increase excise income and nightlife, which might lead to clubs in Noida and Ghaziabad opening till four in the morning. Bars in Delhi’s surrounding areas are permitted to remain open until three in the morning in Haryana’s Gurgaon and Faridabad and until one in the morning at this point in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Ghaziabad.

The state government has formed a five-person committee to determine if extending bar hours is feasible, according to a Times of India story.

This happened as a result of the Noida restaurant owners’ association’s appeal to the authorities for authorization to keep the bar open until four in the morning.

Considering the similarities in economic activity and per capita income across NCR cities like Noida and Ghaziabad, the committee has allegedly been entrusted with delivering a report within 15 days to investigate other revenue sources for the excise department.

According to the article, a group made up of Deputy Excise Commissioner Alok Kumar, Joint Director of Statistics Jogendra Singh, and Excise Commissioner Adarsh Singh is investigating the potential effects of extending bar hours.

The Delhi government made the policy choice to let bars serve alcohol until three in the morning earlier in 2022 in an effort to liven up the city’s nightlife.

The government has granted required orders to the Excise Department, and an order is expected to be issued shortly under Excise Policy 2021–22, said a senior government official. Approximately 550 independent eateries in Delhi provide both domestic and international alcoholic beverages after receiving an L-17 license from the excise department.
