5 people became unwell at the restaurant after using mouth freshener

After eating supper at a restaurant in Sector 90, five family friends apparently used the mouth freshener the restaurant gave afterward and were sick. Their lips started to burn, and they started to bleed and throw up. The restaurant employees allegedly did not help and left the scene, which prompted the police to be called. The police then took them to a local hospital. On Sunday, a formal complaint was filed against the proprietor of the restaurant and its employees under Sections 328 (causing harm by means of poisoning) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

Ankit Kumar, a Greater Noida resident, filed a complaint stating that on Saturday night, he and his friends Manik Gondka and his wife Pritika Rustagi, Deepak Arora and his wife Himani, and his wife Neha Sabharwal had dinner at a restaurant in Sector 90.

“A server gave us mouth fresheners after supper. I didn’t eat it because I was holding my one-year-old daughter on my lap. But as my wife’s and my friends’ health began to fail, I demanded to know what they had been given. I picked up the open polythene package that the waiter had put in front of us. Ankit said, “When I showed the doctor the mouth freshener package when I got to the hospital, he recognized it as dry ice, a lethal acid that may kill you.

“Since four of my friends are still receiving treatment in the hospital, I demand strict action against the restaurant’s owner and staff,” he said. “The doctor diagnosed the five patients with chemical burn poisoning in their medico-legal reports (MLRs). We are looking into every possibility,” SHO Manoj Kumar said.
