Chhattisgarh will get a World Bank grant of Rs. 2460 billion to improve educational standards

The World Bank has approved a grant to the state of Chhattisgarh in an important step to improve the quality of education and school facilities. The award is worth Rs. 2460 crore. Approximately 4 million poor youngsters are expected to profit from this effort, which is being spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, according to a government statement issued on Wednesday.

The majority of the funding provided will go toward advancing upper secondary science and business education. The Chhattisgarh Accelerated Learning for a Knowledge Economy Operation (CHALK) initiative, as it is known, seeks to aid about 40 lakh youngsters from economically underprivileged homes and meet the rising need for senior secondary science and business courses.

The Chhattisgarh government has created Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium schools all around the state to provide students from underprivileged areas access to a quality education. 600 model schools will be developed and run by the CHALK initiative for students in grades 1 through 12. Residential facilities will be provided to rural schools for both staff and students.

The assistance from the World Bank will assist in a number of areas, including housing provision, rising student enrollment rates, raising educational standards, and boosting scientific and business education in secondary schools throughout the state. It is a big step in making up for the COVID-19 pandemic-related learning losses.

The project’s objective is to increase job opportunities in Chhattisgarh’s rapidly expanding industrial and service industries. It will provide educators training packages to help kids learn more effectively in the classroom by making lessons more interesting and entertaining for them.

The Delhi government also provided 1,700 crores in grant-in-aid earlier this year for schools run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Atishi, the minister of education for Delhi, handed out the grant’s first payment on April 20.

The World Bank’s financial assistance to Chhattisgarh shows a laudable dedication to enhancing education and empowering the state’s poor youth. By providing improved educational opportunities and developing a trained workforce that can contribute to the state’s overall growth, it is anticipated to pave the path for a brighter future.
