IMD issued a yellow warning for SCAP and Rayalaseema

For the inhabitants of Andhra Pradesh, the rising temperatures and heatwaves throughout the day pose a serious problem. For the next three days, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema are under a heatwave warning from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), with a yellow alert in force.

The regions of Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh may experience this impact, with temperatures between April 4 and 6 expected to be 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above average. It is recommended that people stay inside between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Over the next three days, the IMD prediction predicts maximum temperatures in Rayalaseema and inland South Andhra Pradesh to range from 41 to 43°C, and in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh to range from 33 to 37°C.

The state-wide lowest temperature, also known as the night temperature, is predicted to climb gradually by 2-3°C in a few locations, reaching a range of 25–27°C. There is still a 70% to 80% relative humidity in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and a 30% to 50% relative humidity in the Rayalaseema districts. The Nandyal district registered the maximum day temperature of 43 degrees Celsius in the 24 hours that ended at 8.30 am on Thursday.

In addition, Chagalamarri in the Nandyal district registered 44.1 degrees Celsius, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), which reported the highest temperatures ever recorded between 8.30 am and 8.30 pm.

Other noteworthy temperatures include 43.8 degrees Celsius in Laddagiri, Kurnool district; 43.9 degrees Celsius in Chinna Cheppalli, YSR district; and 43.6 degrees Celsius in Darimadugu, Prakasam district.

In all, 97 mandals in the state had heatwave conditions, while 21 mandals in the state saw severe heatwave conditions.

On Thursday, the prediction calls for heatwave conditions in as many as 206 mandals and severe heatwave conditions in 109 mandals.

The responsible authorities were instructed by Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy to make sure that water supplied for filling summer storage tanks did not end up in fish tanks or aquaculture ponds. In response to the demands of the NTR, Krishna, and Eluru districts, the Chief Secretary said at a review meeting on Thursday that water for drinking purposes would be released from the Prakasam Barrage to three canals: Banda, Eluru, and Ryves.
