In Chandigarh, seven nomination papers were rejected

Following examination today, the Election Department denied the nomination papers of seven candidates. Twenty-seven candidates submitted their nominations in total.

The Bahujan Samaj Party’s Surinder Singh, the Congress’s Ajay Tewari, and the Independents Rajesh, Navtej Singh, Prem Pal, Amit Sharma, and Satnam Singh all had their nomination papers denied.

Manish Tewari (Congress), Ritu Singh (BSP), Sanjay Tandon (BJP), Deepanshu Sharma (Akhil Bhartiya Parivar Party), Raj Prince Singh (Super Power India Party), Rajinder Kaur (Sainik Samaj Party), Sunil Thaman (Haryana Jan Sena Party), and Independents Kishor Kumar, Kuldip Rai, Pushpinder Singh, Partap Singh Rana, Piar Chand, Baljeet Singh, Ranpreet Singh, Ravi Kant Muni, Lakhvir Singh, Vinod Kumar, Vivek Sharma, Shakeel Mohamad, and Sunil Kumar are currently among the twenty candidates in the race.

The nomination period ended yesterday, having started on May 7. Vinay Pratap Singh, the Returning Officer-cum-DC of UT, examined the nominations today. The “Voter Helpline” app, the “Know Your Candidate” app, and affidavit.eci.gov.in now have all of the affidavits posted.

On May 16, there will be a facilitation meeting held by the Expenditure Observer. A briefing on the upkeep of election accounts and other required procedures will be given to all candidates, their agents, or representatives.

Candidacy withdrawals must be made by May 17 at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m. on the same day, symbols will be allocated at the Returning Officer’s office.
