In the meanwhile, the watchful teenage elephant quietly examines its surroundings to make sure that other family members are present and secure. This endearing behavior is reminiscent of the protective dynamics we see in our own families.

Nestled in the Anaimalai Hills of Pollachi and Valparai taluks in Coimbatore District, as well as Udumalaipettai taluk in Tiruppur District, Tamil Nadu, India, is the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, formerly known as the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park and formerly known as the Anaimalai Wildlife Sanctuary.

This sanctuary has a long history of conservation efforts, and on June 27, 2007, the Tamil Nadu Environment and Forests Department formally named it the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve. Covering an area of 958.59 square kilometers, this designation was made in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, confirming its position as a sanctuary committed to protecting the region’s varied landscape and wildlife.
