India’s 2024 election: Party chiefs are informed about the nomination process

Showkat Ahmad Parray, the district election officer and returning officer for seat No. 13 here, called a meeting today to provide parties thorough instruction on the nomination procedure for the Lok Sabha elections.

Parray introduced the election calendar while presiding over the gathering. Submissions for nominations will open on May 7 and run through May 14. Verification is set on May 15. Nominations may be withdrawn by candidates by May 17. There are holidays on Saturday and Sunday, he noted.

The Mini-Secretariat, Patiala, Ground Floor, Court Room 108, is where nomination papers must be sent in. In order to help candidates, Court Room 109 of the ADC (G) has been designated as a Nomination Facilitation Center. In addition, candidates are welcome to attend early to have their nomination papers checked.

Parray emphasized the Election Commission of India’s online filing feature, which is meant to lower the number of mistakes. To complete and print their submissions, candidates may go to the Suvidha site. In addition to the required declaration of bank accounts, assets, and liabilities, he emphasized the need of sharing social media account information and creating a separate bank account for campaign costs.

Parray set tight rules, stating that nominations may only be submitted by candidates, five people, and three cars that are located within 100 meters of the District Administrative Complex.

ADC (Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Tehsildar (Election) Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and officials from other political parties were present at the meeting.
