Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, dedicates a new state disaster management authority building

On Thursday, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) building’s new foundation stone was laid by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Speaking at the event, Adityanath said that because of its size, Uttar Pradesh has several difficulties.

“Previously, 40 or so districts in the state were thought to be affected by floods, but we have been able to confine this danger to only four or five districts now,” he said, adding that if a tragedy occurs today, residents are confident that the government would give assistance.

Adityanath put a focus on disaster management and raising public awareness via technology at the event to lay the cornerstone of the five-story skyscraper, which is being built on 1.5 half acres of land for a cost of Rs 66.4 crore.

He stated, “Due to the rivers flowing from the Himalayas, there is a continual danger of floods from July to October. Uttar Pradesh has nine distinct climate zones where the possibility of catastrophes is constantly present. Vindhya and Bundelkhand are frequent lightning striking locations. The region of western Uttar Pradesh is one that is especially susceptible to earthquakes. Conflicts between humans and animals are common in the Terai area, which borders Nepal.

According to the chief minister, numerous localities have been included for the first time within the ambit of disaster management in order to give help. Conflict between people and animals comes into one of these areas. Additionally, efforts are being made to set up a lightning strike early warning system throughout all districts. A rain gauge system is being installed in every community, for example, as part of a number of measures, the official added.

For the event, Adityanath introduced the books for the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Plan 2023 and the Flood Action Plan 2023, along with three short videos, a radio jingle, and two books. The National Disaster Response Force’s (NDRF) Vinay Kumar, Jitendra Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Pushpendra, and Manish Kumar were also awarded by the chief minister.
