By misleading the assembly with a "fake" video depicting migrant assault, CPI(ML)-L requests an apology from OPP

The CPI(ML) Liberation, which provides outside support to the Nitish Kumar administration in Bihar, caused a stir in the state legislature on Thursday by seeking an apology from the opposition BJP for "informing" the Assembly incorrectly on reported crimes against migrants in Tamil Nadu. Members of the ultra-Left party also raised a banner in front of the assembly entrance, demanding an apology from Vijay Kumar Sinha, the leader of the opposition, and staged a protest till the bell for the start of the proceedings sounded.

Mahboob Alam, the head of the CPI(ML)-L legislative party, said within the House that Sinha had earlier attempted to "mislead" the House by screening a "fake" film depicting an attack on migrants. As the opposition side responded, all of the CPI(ML)-L members rushed into the well while lawmakers from the governing Mahagathbandhan yelled slogans in favour of them.

Speaker Awdh Bihari Chaudhary let Sinha to address the subject among the commotion. Says Sinha "We are prepared for a discussion on whatever topic the prevailing side requests. The disturbance is an attempt to draw attention away from the state's worsening law and order situation ". After that, the Speaker ordered the CPI(ML)-L MLAs to return and reestablished order before starting the Question Period.

Notably, despite the Tamil Nadu government's denial of such attacks and the arrest of numerous individuals, including some BJP leaders, for allegedly spreading rumours, a team of Bihar officials sent to the southern state also came to the same conclusion that the complaints were founded on "fake" information.
