Opposition angry over China's CPEC project in Pak Parliament, walkout from House

Islamabad: China's ambitious CPEC project in Pakistan is being fiercely opposed. Opposition parties have started opposing it along with the public. Opposition members walked out of the House in the Pak Senate (Upper House) when the government did not get the right answer on the issue of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Opposition members also opposed the meeting of Lieutenant General Retired Asim Salim Bajba with the Chinese envoy.
He said that when there is no chairman of CPEC and the period of its bill has also expired then what is the rationale of such a meeting. Why is Bajwa being paid even after his term ends. Opposition Senate members say Bajwa has been the controversial chairman. He is also accused of corruption. All opposition members demanded that no person who is accused of corruption be appointed to the post of chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in future.
CPEC is China's ambitious project that passes through disputed areas such as Ghulam Kashmir and Aksai Chin. India has consistently opposed this project, as it passes through slave Kashmir. It is primarily a highway and infrastructure project that will connect China's Kashgar province to Pakistan's Guardar Port. The project will develop ports, highways, motorways, railways, airports and power plants as well as other infrastructure projects in Pakistan.
