Gurugram: Breaking traffic rules will be costly, administration has installed 750 CCTV cameras in the city
To improve traffic flow and promote public safety in Gurugram, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has installed 750 CCTVs at many places in the city. These CCTVs have been installed in the first phase under a project under which 1,200 security cameras are to be installed in Gurugram. The remaining 450 close-circuit televisions will be installed soon.
Officials have connected CCTV with its mobile app, which the city dweller can download on his phone to know where all these have been installed. With this step, GMDA officials will be able to use the footage of cameras from anywhere and will also be able to know whether they are operational or not.
GMDA officials said that the CCTV footage can help in locating the exact locations from where any untoward incident will be reported and the police can be informed for timely help. Also, the app will also create fear in the public's mind and they will avoid violating traffic rules.
Keep an eye on those who break traffic rules
GMDA said, “The work of installing 450 CCTVs is going on. The GMDA had identified 22 major intersections for installation of these cameras, which are connected to the integrated command and control center at the GMDA office in Sector 44, where police and other officers monitor them. ”
They are capable of scanning registration number plates of CCTV trains, recording their speed, determining zebra crossings and parking violations and facial recognition. The GMDA had laid fiber cables across the city to connect CCTV to a centralized command center. Apart from Millennium City, the authority has started installing CCTV in the Manesar region.
