Congress will open a front today against the rising prices of petrol and diesel, will protest fiercely in front of petrol pumps
Against the rising prices of petrol-diesel and LPG, Congress will protest in front of petrol pumps across the country on Friday i.e. today and will demand to withdraw the increased prices. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said the protest would be organized by the local units of the party. During this, the local, district and state administrations will follow the prescribed corona protocol and there will be no public meeting.
Congress leader KC Venugopal said that issues of public interest like the problems being faced by the people amid rising prices of petrol, diesel and LPG, unprecedented economic slowdown, rising unemployment and skyrocketing prices of all essential commodities will also be raised. Taking a jibe at the BJP, he said that on one hand people could not get medicines and health facilities at the right time, on the other they are suffering due to failed economy and widespread unemployment.
Petrol and diesel prices increased during the pandemic
Venugopal said that the Modi government has increased the excise duty on petrol by Rs 23.87 per liter and on diesel by Rs 28.37 as compared to the previous UPA regime. BJP's wrong priorities and anti-people policies can also be gauged from the fact that there has been an unprecedented increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the last 13 months of the Corona epidemic.
Petrol and diesel prices increased 44 times in five months
The senior Congress leader said that the prices of petrol and diesel have increased 44 times in the last five months, which is a living example of loot from the public by the BJP government at the Centre. He said that instead of sympathizing with the problems of the common people, the BJP government has ignored the sufferings of the people and continues to inflict pain by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel every other day.
