Maharashtra government's big decision, closed emergency pension scheme for prisoners

Mumbai. The Government of Maharashtra discontinued the pension scheme given to the inmates of the emergency during the year 1975-77 . This pension scheme was related to those caught under the Internal Security System Act ( MISA ) at that time. The state government was spending Rs 41 crore annually on this pension scheme implemented in July 2018. The scheme was implemented during the then BJP regime.

A government resolution (GR) said on Friday that the scheme was being discontinued to curb unfair spending amidst the financial crisis created by the Kovid-19 epidemic. The beneficiaries were receiving Rs 10,000 per month as pension.
