Man accused of urinating on an elderly woman on an Air India flight is granted bail by a Delhi court

A man accused of peeing on a lady on an Air India aircraft from New York to New Delhi in November of last year was granted bail by a Delhi court on Tuesday. Shankar Mishra was given the relief by Additional Sessions Judge Harjyot Singh Bhalla in exchange for a Rs 1 lakh personal bond.

On January 6, the Delhi Police detained Mishra in Bengaluru; he is now being held in judicial custody.

On November 26 of last year, Mishra is accused of peeing on a drunken 70-year-old passenger in the business class of an Air India aircraft.

On January 4, Delhi Police filed a FIR against him under many sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in response to a complaint the lady made to Air India.

Further Sessions Judge Harjyot Singh Bhalla delayed his decision for Tuesday after hearing arguments from both parties on Monday over Mishra's bail plea.

"The witnesses you've listed (the investigation agency) aren't testifying in your favor...

The complainant's assertion and Ila Benarjee's (witness) assertion are in conflict "During the proceedings, the judge made a note.

Asserting that "India has been defamed worldwide because of the event," Delhi Police rejected the bail motion.

"It could be repulsive, but that is a another issue, so let's not go into it. Let's see how the law addresses it "said the judge. Additionally, the prosecution said that Mishra had turned off all of his mobile phones and had not cooperated with the inquiry.

Mishra requested the court's intervention after the metropolitan magistrate granted him bail on January 11. He said that the conduct was totally repugnant and nasty, startled the public, and required condemnation.

The complainant, according to Mishra's earlier assertion, had soiled her own seat. He had also said that the lady had a condition relating to her prostate.

The lady dismissed the claim, calling it "totally fake and invented."
