There is an uneasy quiet in Palnadu and Tirupati

Palnadu district saw an uncomfortable quiet after reports of fights between TDP and YSRC workers in many locations, including Sattenapalli Assembly seats, Gurazala, Macherla, and Narasaraopet, on Monday and Tuesday.

Because CrPC Section 144 remained in effect and police deployed more personnel to seize total control of the district, normal life was disrupted. Prominent figures from both parties in every constituency were placed under house arrest as a precaution. Due to the curfew, local transportation services were interrupted and shops and businesses were closed.

Palnadu saw increased security in high-risk locations, and police inspected cars to keep an eye out for any unusual activities.

Palnadu SP Bindu Madhav, who has been camping in Macherla since Tuesday night, told reporters that everything is completely under control since there were no violent incidents recorded in the district on Wednesday.

He said that those engaged in the violent episodes that occurred in Macherla and Narasaraopet on May 13 and 14 had been identified and charged under the appropriate sections. In order to maintain calm in the district, he said, Section 144 will be in effect for the next several days.

According to reports, police in Tirupati have detained a few individuals in relation to the Tuesday assault on TDP Chandragiri MLA candidate Pulivarthi Nani at the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visva Vidyalayam campus. These individuals will allegedly be questioned.

The uproar surrounding Nani’s attempted murder began when his wife Sudha Reddy accused the SP of breaking their promise to quickly capture the perpetrators. Sudha staged a dharna in front of the Tiruchanoor police station to air her frustrations and criticize the way the police handled the incident. Even with the evidence they presented, they were unable to apprehend the attackers of Nani. Rather, they have placed our people in preventative custody via arrest,” she said.

Both of the leaders were apparently driven out of Tadipatri after the altercation between YSRC candidate Kethireddy Pedda Reddy and JC Prabhakar Reddy’s men. Prabhakar Reddy allegedly became unwell after breathing in tear gas, leading to his admission to a private hospital in Hyderabad. More troops were sent in to make sure nothing bad happened.

Meanwhile, the attacker of YSRC candidate Dr. M Sudheer Reddy on May 13 has been identified, according to Jammalamadugu DSP Yashwant in the Kadapa district.

He said that during the voting process, Gona Krishna Reddy of Goriginuru village threw a stone at Sudheer Reddy.

Krishna Reddy was the subject of a case that was filed and placed on remand. It should be mentioned that Krishna Reddy was also charged for attacking the MLA in a like manner during the 2019 elections.

To make sure Sudheer Reddy and BJP MLA candidate C Adinarayana Reddy were secure, three gunmen were assigned to them.

Along with putting up police pickets to stop undesirable situations, special police forces have also been stationed at party offices in rural regions and inside the boundaries of Jammalamadugu Municipality. Section 144 is now in effect.

Eight people were detained by the police on Wednesday in Mydukuru for assaulting Kuchhupapa Vinod Kumar and his brother Ugra Narasimhudu, who were acting as Telugu Desam Party operatives, at Polling Booth No. 168 in the hamlet of Chinna Guravaluru, Chapadu mandal.

Mydukuru DSP T Venkateswarlu claims that the brothers were taken out of the voting booth, physically beaten, and verbally abused using casteist epithets.
