After releasing financial assistance amounting to about Rs 2691 crore to 6.1 lakh beneficiaries of Uttar Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, Prime Minister in his address Yogi government to implement development schemes at a fast pace and to tighten criminals and rioters. He said, "Today about 22 lakh rural houses are to be built in Uttar Pradesh. Of these, 21.5 lakh houses have also been approved to be built. ”Financial assistance released by the Prime Minister on Wednesday included the first installment to 5.30 lakh beneficiaries and the second installment to 80 thousand beneficiaries. These 80 thousand beneficiaries have taken advantage of the first installment.
Till date, 1.26 crore houses built across the country under PM Awas Yojana
Prime Minister Modi called for a pucca house for all by 2022. In this context, the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana was started in the year 2016. So far, 1.26 crore houses have been built under this scheme across the country. Under this scheme, the central government provides financial assistance to the economically weaker sections of the rural areas to build their own pucca house and to repair the old house. The Central Government provides financial assistance of Rs. 1,20,000 for construction of a pucca house on flat land while Rs. 1,30,000 for construction of a pucca house in hilly areas.
Beneficiaries get benefits of these schemes
In addition to the amount of assistance to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, assistance in the form of wages of unskilled laborers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) and construction of toilets from Swachh Bharat Mission Rural or any other source of Rs. Assistance is given. The scheme also provides for several programs of the Government of India, State Government and Union Territories and for providing clean drinking water under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, LPG connection, electricity connection and Jal Jeevan Mission.
