After the by-election of the vacant post of the village head of Bahpura Uparwar village of Deegh block in the Panchayat by-election, the counting of votes was done on Friday amid tight security arrangements. During this Shivshankar Yadav was declared elected President. He got 540 votes and defeated his nearest rival Photo Devi by 29 votes in the counting of votes held at Deegh Block Office. On the other hand, there was chaos in the block office since morning regarding the counting of votes. As soon as the results were announced, the supporters gave a rousing welcome to the elected head with flowers and garlands and shouting slogans. The returning officer gave the certificate to the elected head.
For the counting of votes, there was a crowd of candidates and their supporters outside the block office since morning. Shivshankar Yadav was declared elected after getting 540 votes out of the total 1075 votes cast after the counting of votes was completed amidst tight security arrangements from the scheduled time. His nearest candidate, Photo Devi, got 511 votes while 24 votes were found invalid. After the counting of votes, Returning Officer Amitesh Singh handed over the certificate to the elected head. As soon as the election results were announced, there was a wave of happiness among the supporters of the elected president. Police station chief JP Yadav was present along with a large number of police forces at the counting site.
