Two arrested in UP for coerced conversion to religion

According to the police, "a FIR was filed on Tuesday against two persons for allegedly beating and coercing a guy to change his faith in this Pashchim Sharira hamlet."

Nand Lal Saroj, the complainant, allegedly accused Santlal and Ram Chandra of coercing him into becoming a Christian. Saroj is 24 years old. He also claimed that the two had assaulted him.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021 and other provisions of the IPC, "We have opened a complaint against Santlal and Chandra," a police official stated.

Santlal has been held by the police, and an investigation is ongoing.
