UP: Police are on the scene as a right-wing mob protests Pathaan

A day after a right-wing group staged a rally here warning against showing the Bollywood film "Pathaan," the district government on Wednesday deployed armed police officers at a multiplex here.

On Wednesday, the newest Shah Rukh Khan movie opened in 5,000 theaters around India. Due to the song "Besharam Rang," it has received demands for a boycott.

Desh Deepak, the district head of the Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena, and a hundred of its members protested the film's showing on Tuesday, claiming that it offended Hindu feelings.

After the demonstration, the government sent out enough PAC and police people, according to the police, to prevent any adverse incidents.

The operator of a local multiplex said that all 10 of the planned performances are completely sold out.

Multiplexes will be protected, according to Circle Officer (City) Sitapur Rajkumar Rao, and more police has been deployed as a result of the protest that was held on Tuesday.
