UP: Three Dead in Shahjahanpur Hit-and-Run Crime

When a truck struck the scooter they were on and dragged the two-wheeler for about 500 meters, three people—including a toddler—were murdered.

The event happened in the neighborhood next to the Katra overbridge.

Residents of Lalpur hamlet Ramdin, 40, his sister-in-law Surja Devi, 35, and their nephew, 3, were returning home when a vehicle struck their motorbike from behind.

The scooter became tangled with the vehicle and was carried for almost 500 meters, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S. Anand.

He said that after arriving at the scene, police transferred the three wounded people for medical attention to a hospital in Bareilly, where the staff pronounced them dead.

According to the SSP, the corpses have been transferred for post-mortem examination.

The truck driver reportedly left his vehicle behind and fled the scene, according to the authorities. The topic is now the subject of further study.
