Will petrol and diesel prices come under GST, know what Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said

On the rising prices of petrol and diesel, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says that we are reviewing to include petroleum products in GST. But whether it is included in GST or not depends on the GST Council. Actually, the matter of bringing petrol and diesel under GST has been going on for quite some time. Now that the government is facing pressure from all sides on the rising prices of petrol and diesel. At such a time, this statement of Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is considered very important.
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says that we are constantly asking the GST Council to include petrol and diesel in GST. But the final decision depends on the GST Council itself.
Oil imports are paying more
Earlier, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said on the rising price that oil producing countries have cut production. Due to this, the oil importing countries are paying more. India imports 80 percent of its oil requirement. It is the third largest country in the world in terms of importing crude oil. Pradhan said that we are in constant contact with OPEC & OPEC plus (oil producing countries). We are appealing to them not to increase the price. I hope that this will change in the coming days.
Problem will be solved soon
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that in addition to this, capital spending has also been increased by 34 percent. The government needs money to spend and hence it collects tax. Both the Center and the state levy taxes on petrol diesel. The state government is also increasing expenditure at this time, due to which it also needs more tax. Petroleum Minister Pradhan hopes that the Finance Minister will find a solution to this problem.
Both state and central government should consider the matter
On the other hand, Finance Minister Sitharaman has said that this is a case in which everyone wants to hear an answer that the price will be cut. This matter is related to both the Center and the state, so both the government should think together and solve the problem. The Finance Minister also said that the oil producing countries have said that there is still more reduction in production. This will increase the pressure on the price of petrol and will increase the price. Currently, there is a tax of 60 percent in the price of petrol (retail rate) and 54 percent in the price of diesel, in which both the center and the state share.
