Bruno Fernandes Discusses His Future at Manchester United in “I Will Go If…”

As rumors about the Portuguese midfielder’s future grow, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes said he will remain at Old Trafford as long as he is needed.

Recently, Fernandes, 29, has been associated with a transfer to Bayern Munich since the Red Devils will not play in the Champions League the next season.

United may be compelled to sell to generate the finances required for a comprehensive makeover of the team in the summer and stay compliant with Premier League financial sustainability criteria.

Fernandes, whose contract expires in 2026, said, “I will be here till the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future.”

“I’ll leave if, for whatever reason, they don’t want me.”

With a 3-2 victory against Newcastle on Wednesday, United maintained their chances of qualifying for Europe via the Premier League, with Fernandes contributing to the cause.

Although Erik ten Hag’s team is now ranked eighth in the standings, they have the opportunity to move up to seventh if they defeat Newcastle on the last day of play.

“This season has not been easy. We are all aware of it, as the table indicates,” Fernandes said.

“We had to take action because the fans have been incredible to us.

“We’ve been trying, but the data doesn’t support that. Even though everyone has been working hard and giving it their all, we still need to do more.

If United upset Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25, they will have another opportunity to qualify for Europe—even if they don’t place in the top seven for the first time in the Premier League era.

In order to allay concerns about his future going into the next season, manager Ten Hag, who is under criticism, really needs a second trophy in his two years in command.

After United’s last home game of the season, the Dutchman grabbed the microphone at full time to express his gratitude to the supporters in spite of a challenging season.

Ten Hag stated, “As you know, it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing remained constant, and that was your backing of the team.”

“The season is still ongoing. We go to Brighton first, stopping there three times before continuing on to Wembley. Those guys will stop at nothing to win that cup and bring it to Old Trafford, I can assure you.

“We know you’ll be there to support us. You are the world’s greatest supporters—thank you!”
