In view of the drought situation due to less rainfall in the state, the government has arranged a diesel subsidy for Patwan with diesel-powered pump sets. There was a provision to give a subsidy of Rs 60 per liter on diesel to the farmers for irrigation, which has now been increased. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, approval was given to increase the diesel subsidy from Rs 60 per liter to Rs 75. A total of 23 proposals were approved in Friday's meeting.

After the cabinet meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the cabinet S Siddhartha said that sometime back, the cabinet had approved Rs 29.95 crore for diesel subsidy at the rate of Rs 60 per liter. Recently it was realized that the subsidy of Rs 60 is less than the prevailing rate of diesel. After this, the cabinet approved a proposal to increase the grant from Rs 60 per liter to Rs 75. A farmer can be given a grant for irrigation up to eight acres.

750 rupees will be given to farmers at the rate of 75 rupees

Siddharth informed that according to 10 liters of diesel consumption subsidy for one irrigation in a one-acre area, 750 rupees will be given to the farmers at the rate of 75 rupees. Rs.15 hundred per acre will be given for a maximum of two irrigation of paddy crop and jute crop. Under paddy, maize, and other Kharif crops in standing crops, farmers will be given Rs 2250 per acre for a maximum of three irrigations of pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, and medicinal and aromatic plants.

The Additional Chief Secretary informed that online applications are being taken from farmers for diesel subsidy from July 29, 2022. So far, the government has received 26528 applications, verification of which action is being taken to approve the grant amount. He said that the benefit of diesel subsidy would be given to both ryot and non ryot farmers. A computerized voucher will be uploaded by the farmers to buy diesel from the registered petrol pump vendor while applying online. The farmers have used the purchased diesel for irrigation only, it will be checked by the Agriculture Coordinator of the Panchayat concerned. The applications received online will be executed within a maximum of 10 days and the amount will be DBT in the bank account of the farmers. Siddharth said that the regular monitoring of the diesel subsidy scheme would be done at the level of the regional office of the department. The implementation and monitoring of the scheme will be done at the level of DM. In the light of the instructions of the government, a meeting of the Agriculture Task Force will be held every day by the DM, in which the distribution of diesel grants will be reviewed.
