Prospect of Applying for DU Admission Despite Failure to Choose a Varsity Course During CUET-UG Registration

According to a DU spokesperson, candidates who registered for CUET-UG but did not indicate Delhi University as a preference may still submit an application for admission to the school via its CSAS site.

Haneet Gandhi, the dean of admission at Delhi University, said that students who selected the “unreserved” category during CUET registration are still eligible to apply in the reserved category via the CSAS site “if their certificate is ready.”

Gandhi made this statement at the first webinar in a series on admission for 2023–24.

Early this month saw the inauguration of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)-2023), and applicants to the institution must submit their materials via the site.

During the webinar, the admissions branch staff informed DU hopefuls of the registration, admission, and form-filling procedures.

They responded to some of the applicants’ inquiries as well.

One of these questions was whether candidates may still apply to DU even if they had not chosen the university while completing the preferences. Last year, only applicants who included Delhi University as one of their priorities were permitted to submit an application via the CSAS site.

“Candidates may still apply for admission to the university using the university’s CSAS site even if they did not indicate Delhi University as a preference while enrolling for CUET-UG. Similar to this, a student may apply for the desired programs during phase II of the CUET if they have already chosen them, according to Gandhi.

Gandhi’s response to another question about changing categories was, “One should not do that but if there is any difficulty with your certificate and it is now available, you may choose for the reserved category. Candidates may alter their category when completing the CSAS online, with the exception of PWD students. You cannot, however, modify their classifications after submitting an application via the CSAS site. Through the CSAS site, applications are being accepted for about 71,000 seats in 78 undergraduate programs for the academic year 2023–2024.

Gandhi said when asked whether students may replace the cell number and email address they used to register for CUET that they can specify other numbers, but DU only accepts the information from CUET and “considers only that one authentic”.

She said that just that number would get all of the information.

Similar to previous year, admissions are determined by the Common University Entrance Test merit score.

For UR, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, the registration cost is Rs 250; for SC/ST/PwBD applicants, it is Rs 100.

Through its 68 colleges, the institution offers 78 undergraduate programs and 198 BA program combinations.

The University of Delhi offers over 1,550 distinct programs and various college combinations.

The most popular PG course is the MA in Political Science.

There are two parts to the CSAS (UG) registration process. The registration procedure, which began on Wednesday, requires applicants to provide their names, contact information, and class XII academic records.

The announcement of the CUET (UG) findings in the second week of July will signal the start of the second phase of the CSAS (UG) process. The applicants must log in to their CSAS dashboard and finish the Preference-Filling in order to take part in the second round.

The University of Delhi has designated 26 sports and games for its supernumerary quota in sports, and 14 categories (including NSS and NCC) for its supernumerary quota in extracurricular activities.

It has been determined to allocate 5% of the college’s total sanctioned strength for the ECA and sports supernumerary quota. The applicants also inquired as to whether a candidate for admission under the ECA or Sports quotas would be given consideration for an ordinary seat.

The student will be given priority consideration for the regular seats, according to Amit Pundir, Joint Dean of Admission.

“You will be given a seat after being given first consideration in the allocation process. You will be given new seats based on a revised score that will be produced after the ECA and athletic testing. You may choose the seat you wish to take, Pundir stated.
