Russia out of UNHRC on Bucha massacre, US resolution passed in UN General Assembly, 58 countries including India distanced themselves from voting

The world has expressed outrage over Russia's attack on Ukraine. The United Nations General Assembly on Thursday suspended Russia from the United Nations. The United Nations General Assembly has been suspended after voting on a resolution to oust Russia from the United Nations Human Rights Council. 93 votes were cast in favor of this proposal and 24 in opposition, while 58 countries including India did not participate in voting. Russia was suspended only after this voting.

Let us tell you that in view of the massacre in Bucha, Ukraine, the US had proposed to suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council. Russia has now become the second country whose membership has been stripped from the Human Rights Council. The UNGA had previously suspended Libya from the Council in 2011.

"We have ensured that a persistent and serious human rights violator will not be allowed to occupy a leadership position on human rights at the United Nations," Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas said on the resolution.

Russia's ally China on Thursday opposed the resolution, after abstaining from the last two General Assembly votes.

Earlier, welcoming the delegates to the 14th Geneva Summit, United Nations Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer said, "Today we are meeting at a time when for the second time in history there are calls for the removal of UNHRC member-states. Following the way Russia attacked Ukraine, the US announced that working with Ukraine and other European states, they would pull Russia out of the Human Rights Council.

A Sikh community man has been shot dead in New York, USA. According to media reports, 31-year-old Satnam Singh of Indian origin was sitting in a parked car in the South Ozone Park section of Queens. Then a man with a gun came to him and opened fire on Satnam Singh. In this firing, he was shot in the head, due to which he died. The New York Police Department told the media that the gunman who killed Satnam Singh had reached them on foot. Along with this, he told that this entire incident has been captured on a nearby CCTV camera. We have received that CCTV footage and we are probing the incident.

Simultaneously, New York Police said that according to CCTV footage, the gunman who attacked the attack did not know who was sitting in the car. We are trying to find out whether the attacker had come to kill the owner of the car.
